THE NATURE OF THINGS – SURVIVING :) THE TEENAGE BRAIN: Throw away all of your preconceived ideas about the behaviour and nature of teenagers. New research suggests that without our turbulent teen years the human race would be, as Dr. David Bainbridge puts it in Surviving :) The Teenage Brain, “short lived and stupid.” Watch this episode of the CBCs “The Nature of Things” here to learn about that odd creature that invades our homes for what seems like an eternity and tests the limits of our reasoning skills and patience.
MESSAGE FROM THE MT. SENTINEL LIBRARY: If your child lives within RDCK areas F and H, and has a Nelson Public Library card, then he/she will be able to reserve books online from the NPL, and by request, have them couriered to Mt. Sentinel. We are really pleased with this SD8-NPL partnership, as it provides access to resources/books from the Nelson Public Library, extending our own library services. Courier days will be Tuesdays for Mt. Sentinel. If your child doesn't have an NPL library card, and is qualified to sign up for one, then please have the form completed and returned this Friday, March 2nd to the Library at lunch. Joanne Harris, Teen Services Coordinator, will be on hand to take in completed forms and answer questions.

IEP Resource for parents
Some students in our school district are on Individual Education Plans (IEP) due to a special need or learning challenge. This document is designed to help parents get the most out of their child’s IEP. “An IEP is, above all, a “living document,” meaning it can, and will, be changed as your child’s circumstances change.”
